Brewed with 100% Skagit Valley Malt from Burlington, WA, this experimental brew features Obsidian Barley at 45% of the grist. Also known as "Purple Egyptian", this ancient grain originating from the headwaters of the Nile River. Revived by grain historian Dr. Richard Scheuerman from Seattle Pacific University, this rare malt lends a flavor and aroma similar to bran flakes. Fermented clean with our house saison yeast and aged on mixed raisins for notes of pear, white wine, dry cereal and a long forgotten past.
