Among the red beers, the Bastarda Rossa is one of the best known and most iconic of Birra Amiata. A beer produced with chestnut flour and flakes, known for at least 14 years (it was the first produced by the brewery) and winner of numerous awards, including the gold medal at the Mondial de la Biere in Strasbourg. The chestnut francise (Bastarda Rossa, Bastarda Double, Bastarda Nera and Vecchia Bastarda) are among the best known chestnut beers, to seal the chestnut tradition of Monte Amiata, (southern Tuscany, between Siena and Grosseto), the first town to obtain the IGP designation for their chestnuts For several years La Bastarda Rossa has inspired a festival that is usually held at the end of November in the best Italian pubs, in which chestnut beer is celebrated and which is called Bastarda Rossa Day
