Our Seasonal Selection for Late Winter and Early Spring. Jefferson Stout is only available for a short time. You can find it on tap or in Party Pigs in select locations.

Jefferson Stout, Lazy Magnolia's original weet Potato Cream Stout, is Lazy Magnolia's late winter/early Spring seasonal offering. Jefferson Stout is brewed with sweet potatoes and lactose (milk sugar). The sweet potatoes provide the background to an impressive taste with added notes of roasted chocolate, coffee, and caramel flavors.

Story behind Jefferson Stout
The story of the Jefferson Stout recipe highlights Lazy Magnolia's focus on the company motto ("We don't tell people what to like, we give them great choices.") as well as the practice of listening to our customers. Specifically, the idea for this recipe came from a good friend of Lazy Magnolia, Chef Steve D'Angelo. As the former Owner/Chef at Bay City Grill in Bay St. Louis and early supporter of Lazy Magnolia, Chef Steve was discussing some of his ideas for future Lazy Magnolia beers to Mark and Leslie.

Chef Steve is well known for his creative takes on Gulf Coast classics, so his idea was for Leslie to brew a beer using Eggplant as the main ingredient. One thing led to another, and that suggestion led to thoughts of other seldom-used ingredients for beer. It was not long after their conversation that Leslie came up0on the idea of using Sweet Potatoes, a well-known staple in the South. This recipe has been a big hit since and Jefferson Stout remains one of Lazy Magnolia's most anticipated seasonal offerings.

As with all Stouts, Jefferson Stout is the perfect companion to creamy seafood dishes, as well as raw oysters. In addition, Jefferson Stout pairs well with chocolate desserts.
