It's not every day that a "Top 10" National brewery comes to Hannibal to brew a collaboration beer with a local brewery for a community festival and fundraiser.
We are very excited for the release of our newest beer, in collaboration with Ballast Point Brewing Co (San Diego, CA), "Brew Skies Rye" Pale Ale.
We began talks with Ballast Point Brewing Co. last fall to seek their participation in a local music festival, Brew Skies Music Festival, and during those talks, we came up with an idea for a special beer to be released especially for this event. In the first quarter of 2018, our brewers Cat, Dave, and Logan had meetings with James Murray, VP of Brewing at Ballast Point, and came up with a new recipe and style (using new hops/ingredients) that we have not created before at MTBC.
On May 9th, 2018, James Murray, Erick Jensen, and Jefferson Dorr brewed this beer with Cat Golden, Logan Lanier, and Dave Alley in our brew house. We created a 20bbl batch which will be available in our tap room, at Brew Skies Music Festival, and limited kegs (draft only) will be released in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Western Illinois markets.
