Sinebrychoff Porter is a top-fermented dark, almost black, unfiltered beer whose aromas convey a malty toastiness. The four different malts - pilsner, Munich, brown and caramel - used in its production give the beer its characteristic aromas: toastiness, chocolate, coffee and liquorice. Porter is strongly hopped with Saazer and bitter hops.

At refrigerator temperatures, many of the elegant nuances of Porter's flavour will go unnoticed; for that reason the beer should only be served at a cool room temperature.

Sinebrychoff was already brewing Porter during the 1860s, although in relatively limited quantities and primarily during winter seasons. Originally marketed as Imperial Stout, Porter has been brewed continuously since 1957.

Working with laboratory manager Aarne Rahiala, the brewmasters Boris Orlo and Nils Sandman developed Porter. The yeast, originating from the Park Royal Brewery in London, is the same used to make Guinness.

Sinebrychoff Porter has won numerous awards. In 2000, the Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago ranked Sinebrychoff Porter among the USA's best import beers. In the world's most prestigious beer contest, The Brewing Industry International Awards, Porter has won Silver twice, in 1998 and 2002. In Finland Porter has been listed many times as the Draught Beer of the Year. And Sinebrychoff's Porter and Christmas Beer were the only Finnish beers selected by the highly respected beer expert Michael Jackson for his list of the world's 500 best beers.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, barley starch, hops, yeast.
Best before: glass bottle 12 months.
Serving temperature: 10-18° C.
Goes well with: socialising, game dishes, strong meat dishes, oysters, chocolate desserts.
