Big Alice Brewing is a nano-brewery and farm brewery, serving up flavor forward brews 5 days a week in our taproom in Long Island City, Queens, New York. We also distribute our craft beers in kegs to local restaurants and pubs. Here’s our philosophy in a nutshell: good craft beer is meant to be enjoyed rather than consumed, savoring and appreciating what makes it special. Some are malty, some are hoppy. Some simple and smooth. Some very complex. Any beer can possess a unique combination of all of these qualities. It’s the possibility that each beer brings that we’re passionate about. Big Alice Brewing is a New York State Farm Brewery. That means our beers are made from locally-grown farm products. Right now, at least 20 percent of our hops and malts must be grown in New York. Over the next 10 years, the requirement will grow to 90 percent. The farm brewery designation was modeled after the 1976 Farm Winery Act, which stimulated the growth of New York’s wine industry and helped local agriculture to flourish. Locally-sourced hops and malts produce craft beers with the freshest artisanal flavors while also supporting our state’s farmers. Ingredients matter and we like to include whatever’s fresh, local, organic and available. As a farm brewery, we hope to encourage New Yorkers to buy local and keep coming back for more.
