Craft beer insights

Let's start today a series of articles to explain to newbies (and not) how the whole process of a craft brewery works.

It is easy to talk about beer, especially nowadays. The growing market spurs the founding of so many breweries that it has become common to see new labels scattered here and there in your region!

In this series of articles we want to go into the depths of this process.

We will analyze the ingredients and the production phases up to storage, retracing with as many details as possible to introduce you or extend your knowledge on this new craft frontier!

The goal is to get closer to this new science and to appreciate each ingredient with every sip, so.... grab a beer and start reading!

Now a brief introduction and summary of the best known topics. We will begin this series of articles by describing what the ingredients are.

The ingredients are always defined by the type of beer that you want to produce, leaving out the thousand shades of beer that can be created with smoked and spices and the peculiarity of the special ones, the main ingredients are always: water, barley malt, hops and yeasts!

It seems that a certain, William IV of Bavaria in 1516 promulgated a law called "Reinheitsgebot" necessary to regulate the production and sale of beer. In this event, the only ingredients were specified: water, barley and hops.

Only later when the yeast is discovered will it be added to the list!

After having accurately described the ingredients we will move on to the explanation of the real production process, this process is characterized by different phases which are: preparation, mashing, cooking and fermentation.

Once the production process is finished, the craft beer must be kept. This happens in two types of containers: the keg and the bottle.

It seems trivial but it is not because in this last step further chemical processes take place which can, if not carefully managed, go to ruin the final product and also put all the work done up to hygienic / sanitary risk.

We hope we have intrigued you and that you continue this journey.

Stay tuned..See you soon with the next stop!
