Brown Ales come in many forms; the browns of Southern England are malty, caramelly and sweet. Northern English Browns are more hoppy and toasted. American Browns are BIG; lots of malt and lots of American hops (Michigan-Grown Cascades in the hop back, for kettle hops we used a blend of Michigan-Grown Nugget, then dry-hopped it with more Michigan Cascade/Nugget). This incarnation is even hoppier than an American Brown, with a big resiny/earthy hop character, big toasted, biscuity and caramel notes, smooth texture and a generous hop bitterness.
