Years ago, northern British towns like York and Edinburgh were known for their beers made from oat malt. Oat Malt (you guessed it, oats that are malted, not flaked) give beers a rich, round and silky flavor and texture. We also used a small amount of British Brown malt for a distinct toasty, cocoa flavor. This beer also has a generous addition of UK Fuggle hops for a nice bitter balance. It starts with a crisp toasty malt aroma and subtle hop nose that gives way to a light cocoa-like malt flavor, a silky mouthfeel and ends with an herbal hop finish.
