Before it all started, Craig Purvis was a director of Aussie Disposals. But, having decided to sell up his share and seek a fresh challenge, he did what everyone dreams of: making their hobby their business. Combining his retail skills with a love for good wine and beer, he opened Purvis Cellars in Whitehorse Road in September 2001 and soon carved out a reputation for a wide selection of quality products and staff who knew what they were selling.
Today, newcomers tend to react like kids in a lolly store when they first enter, dazzled by the selection drawn from every corner of the world. Those who wish to learn more can put themselves in the trusty arms of staff - or become members and attend regular tastings and brewer showcases.
