Jan Mikš in 1905, learned the craft brewing in the Smíchov brewery malting then graduated from school in Prague. In 1918 he bought the brewery from the Kolowrats and fundamentally modernized it. Beer brewed with him later and his son John, also a trained brewer. Mikšův brewery in Rychnov ranked among the best medium-sized breweries type, with annual sales of 15,000 hl. beer. It brewed ten-light beer, lager Twelve, třináctistupňový Březňák and gourmet Fourteen dark Porter and later also 14 ° guardian. The brewery was very modernly equipped, at the time at the top level, with steel tanks instead of the original timber.
