In 1858, Theodor König founded the König brewery in the rural Lower Rhine community of Beeck. At a time when people still swore on simple, top-fermented beers, he decided - bucking the trend of the time - on the more elaborate Pilsener style of brewing.

Success was soon to follow. The first documented mention of the König Pilsener brand dates back to 1911 - the rest is beer history.

The company's most valuable asset, then as now, was and remains its staff. König is also committed to social responsibility, and has been promoting a wide range of cultural and sporting events for many years now.
