The Mitten Brewing Company is the brainchild of life-long friends Chris Andrus and Max Trierweiler. Having been involved in the music and technology industries respectively, Andrus and Trierweiler started wholeheartedly on this new career path; their passion gave way to a brewery that would make craft beer enthusiasts, families, grandmothers, sports fans and kids all feel welcome. They wanted to incorporate their love of baseball and create a place where fans could find a game on a big screen and a good brew. After honing the science and artistry of home-brewing for four years, they were also ready to try their innovative recipes on a larger scale. With the support of loved ones and an excited group of friends and investors, the journey to The Mitten Brewing Company began in February of 2012. It was important for the owners to do much of the renovations themselves; this guaranteed the preservation of the historic building they transformed and the production of the atmosphere they had envisioned. After six months of hard labor, the Tigers went to the World Series...and The Mitten opened its doors.
