Who's Arlecchino?

Today we want introduce you another famous carnival italian mask, Arlecchino.

The root of its name is of Germanic origin and means "King of Hell", this mask is therefore contaminated on the one hand by the tradition of the diabolical characters of the popular French tradition and on the other by the agricultural ritual; it seems that Orderico Vitale in his "Historia Ecclesiastica" tells of the appearance of a "Herlechini family", a procession of dead souls led by this demon / giant.

The story that today we tell to our children, however, is another. It is said that Harlequin, a child belonging to a very poor family on the occasion of the carnival was the only one who couldn’t participate in the school party because he didn’t have an adequate costume. His friends loved him and therefore decided to help him. They gave the Harlequin’s mother each a piece of fabric of their own dress so that she could sew a really original costume for her child!

Each of us as a child has disguised himself as a Harlequin, a representative mask of the carnival in Italy, the colors of his dress recall the confetti that invade the squares throughout the holiday period and are certainly a source of inspiration for several craft beers that have as their label harlequin with his dress of a thousand colors.

Do you know any craft beer with these characteristics? Suggest it here!

You can find below a small list of craft beers with the craft brewery of reference, you can learn more on our site.
